ECG for Generalists

I was one of the fortunate ones who was able to attend this prestigious seminar. The Seminar was conducted by the Philippine Heart Association. The lecturers were the best cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons of Davao City. We were taught the basics of ECG interpretation and other factors that could cause alterations on the ECG tracings of patients with cardiac problems. I might say it was one hell of an experience, I'm not confident enough to read tracing but I can say that I'm gradually loving ECG!

I've been experimenting on some new recipes and guess what? I'm quite contented with the taste! chocolately and moist! hmmmm..... just perfect! Hope I could do it all over again! hahaha!

WHAT is G6PD?

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is a hereditary disorder that may cause hemolytic anemia to the person expose to fava. Two of my co-nurses' babies were diagnosed to have g6pd and its becoming more popular nowadays. This disorder is detected during newborn screening, so it is rightfully to subject every newborn to this test in order to prevent exacerbation of the disorder by having necessary precautions on the food intake of the newborns.

I have looked into some of the symptoms of this disorder from WIKIPEDIA

• Prolonged neonatal jaundice, possibly leading to kernicterus (arguably the most serious complication of G6PD deficiency)
• Hemolytic crises in response to:
  • Illness (especially infections)
  • Certain drugs (see below)
  • Certain foods, most notably broad beans
  • Certain chemicals
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis
• Very severe crises can cause acute renal failure....

sad....sad...sad!

that's all i can say!!!!! my friends and I were supposed to leave for manila for a 3-day vacay but unfortunately we need to report to duty because we had 2 OR cases. We can't do anything about it but to cancel our trip and go on duty. What made it worst was that after we were able to discharge our patient from the unit, we were advised to report to other ward for no reason at all. So ruthless!!!!

My friend grace is planning to tie the knot soon! We get all very excited about it. She asked me I could help her with the details. Welcome Mamang

It will my first time to actually live with my mother-in-law for a long period of time. I really don't know what to do! Oh I'm just so intimidated! I'm scared of not knowing how to start a conversation with her, I'm scared that might noticed things that she don't like in me! arrgggghhhh!!!! I'm so anxious! wish me luck! Got to go! will be picking them up at airport in an while!

Happy Anniversary to us!

September 2, 2002 was very memorable for me and noy. It was the start of our journey together. Like any young couples out there, we also had our share of ups and downs. We argue on things, we disagree over each other's point of view, we appreciate each others achievements and support each others decision. It never a seamless relationship but an imperfectly perfect one. This indifferences and understandings lasted us until we finally tied the knot last December of 2008, Now, 8 years later, here we are, still journeying together, trying to get the hang of each others imperfections and I'm proud to say that with the help of God, we were strong as ever!

Im sick

I went to my night shift duty last night feeling well and hyped. I received the endorsement together with PICU charge nurse, Henry. At around 9pm my tummy began to complain.. I'm hungry, I didn't not had my dinner yet. So I asked my friend chin and jr to buy us a dinner. They bought corned beef and egg. Henry, as the host of PICU, offered to cook the food. Because I'm dead hungry, I suggested to him not to overdo the eggs since the corned beef is hot, it will be cook eventually. We ate till there almost nothing left on the plate. We were satisfied. Comes 11 o'clock in the evening, I suddenly felt difficulty in breathing and was having dry cough. I right there and then concluded that i was having an allergic reaction because I have already experienced the symptoms in the past. I asked our resident physician to check on me, she said, I just need to rest and let my body recover. So I did. Henry let me sleep for a fews hours but when I woke up, the symptoms didn't subside and this time I was feeling cold and feverish. Chin brought me to the er, had my laboratories and was advised to rest for 5 days. When I reached home, I took my prescribed meds and slept the whole day. Was feeling feeling alot better the day after but i thought I could use the 5 day rest given to me, so I took a leave of absent from work.

Today marks the day when my friend Orville and Darryl unite their hearts as one in the altar of the Lord. I don't mind coming from a night duty and going straight to hotel where we are going to be made up for the wedding. I was extremely excited for this day. I get to see old friends and bond with them like the way we used to. I'm so excited to see Orville walking down the aisle and him singing while waiting for his bride... Oh sooooo romantic! Well I guess, I just have to end this one and get ready! ciao!

Excited!

I have never been this excited for quite sometime! I heard a good news!!!! A friend told me that we are going to dance and have some sort of a reunion of the old tambourine dancers. My oh my!!!1 I haven't dance for years!!!! I can feel my blood rush through my veins! Oh I can't wait for our first practice! This is going t0 be soooooo much fun!

My Bad!

This morning I went out to buy gift for my friend's baby shower and deposit some cash. My friend Chin and I bought a mini bath tub for the baby. Then next stop was to supposedly deposit the money around 9k to the bank. as i was preparing the envelop for deposit, unknowingly my wallet got picked-pocket! I didn't know what to do! I was in shocked, couldn't decide! Chin, initiated to talk to the security but they can't do anything as of the moment! We to the nearest police station to report what had happened and all they said was to let us know if they were able to get hold of my stuffs. I was so dismayed with system that we headed home with out a word. Inside my wallet was my driver's license, my prc license, credit cards, atm cards, cedula, parking ticket, and many more!!!! aarggghhhh!!!!! Will follow up everything next week! im keeping my fingers crossed.... hoping that there are still some good-hearted people who will return my stuff. pray for me!

Jellyfish

My first encounter with jellyfish was when we were in Ocean Park, Hongkong. I was amazed the different species there are. During my trip in Zamboanga, in one of the beaches there, I get to see a giant jellyfish in close proximity, the natives of the place were used to seeing this one the shore especially if it is a "big waves" day. and my oh my, they victimized one the children swimming, I presumed it was very painful as the tentacles leaves marks all over the child's body. It was also at that time that i learned that jellyfish are edible. The natives use this as their
"pulutan" during their drinking sessions. Below is the actual picture of the jellyfish.

Can't Wait!

Tomorrow ronald and I will finally leave for zamboanga! Yipeey!!! a much awaited time with him, the two of us on a trip! aww..... I miss times like these.... maybe because we both are consumed with work responsibilities. Finally, its our time to relax and enjoy each other's company.... Ohhhh Im soooooo excited!
